Barnsley County Council – Offsite Records Storage

Barnsley Metropolitan District Council required a high-density mobile shelving system for their new county archive building at Shortwood Villas, Barnsley. After a successful tender bid we were selected to design, supply and install the new archive facility.

The system provides a total of 1,093 bays of shelving, which house the County Records centrally in one location. The archive was designed in close consultation with the Council Property and Procurement Department and the Council Archivists team to exactly match a very detailed and stringent specification.

Due to site circumstances, deliveries were made at 6.00am each morning and the installation was completed over a 4 weeks period

With a team of dedicated professionals offering a personal service, the whole project was brought in on budget and two weeks earlier than scheduled.

Designed using strong robust shelving and precision engineered mobile bases, the system will provide the Council with a modern, state of the art high density mobile storage system for the safe and proper storage of these vital county records for years to come.

West Ham Olympic Stadium – Club Shop Storage

We were approached by West Ham United to supply, deliver and install storage for the Warehouse stores area for the new club shop as part of the club relocation from the Boleyn Ground to The Olympic Park. We were tasked to provide solutions to create storage for bulk goods along with storage and picking facility for individual items supplied within the club and online shops.

Our initial contact with the club involved a presentation to offer proposals on the various systems that were available to improve existing storage and management.
The subsequent ITT process included a detailed site survey and storage audit to identify the most appropriate and functional hardware system to best support proposed working practices and processes, to improve stock rotation and optimise space utilisation. Consultations with staff from the department enabled us to identify specific requirements such as small item and secure storage within the system.

After a highly competitive tendering process, our bid was accepted as offering best value for money and we were awarded this contract.

Project Summary…

Our site survey included identification of potential risks associated with the successful delivery of the project at planning stage.

Installation was carried out by approved site inducted contractors including all relevant offloading and access equipment hire. During the installation we were asked to provide additional storage items including a garment hanging system and packing benches.

Plymouth NHS Trust – Mezzanine Floor & Shelving

A new Medical Records library containing 2.4 km of steel shelving for Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust . Based at Bush Park, Estover, Plymouth brought together the records management of the Primary Care Trust and Plymouth Hospitals Records service into one central location.

The Library contains 2,000 bays of mobile and static shelving housing up to 1,000,000 individual Patient Records. The system was carefully designed utilising both the existing and new shelving, which was dismantled and re installed onto mobile bases. This increased the storage capacity of the existing library by a massive 62 per cent.

Working in close cooperation with NHS staff, the records were still made available for use 24/7 during the installation program which was completed in agreed phases over a 4 months period. Utilising as much of the exiting static shelving as we could and then adding new bays of shelving the logistics for this operation were extremely complex and involved. Nevertheless, the project was successfully concluded to the client’s complete satisfaction. Bolton Distribution Depot – Pallet Racking

In collaboration with fit out specialists we were called in to work on the new design and build fit out of new 23,000 square foot operations and distribution facility in Bolton. The new premises pulled together three regional offices, including field operatives, management teams and admin support.

Upon completion of a workspace analysis of the distribution centres a long-term plan was devised for use of space within the building. As part of this remit we were contracted to design, supply and install bays of pallet racking and shelving to increase overall storage capacity.

We provided 60+ bays of pallet racking alongside 50 steel shelving bays within the distribution warehouse. Working closely with the customer the design and layout was designed to exactly meet the client’s working conditions and stores function. The pallet racking bays have a 5m upright with a 3 tonnes UDL beam loading, a fully adjustable system which provides the client’s storage area with great flexibility and adaptability.

The project was completed on time and within budget, much to the client’s satisfaction.

BBC Roath Locks – Racking, Wales

The original tender bid was to supply storage to new BBC sites at Roath Locks Cardiff, Salford Quays Media City and New Broadcasting House, London. Following tender submissions and presentations we were awarded the contract, working directly with the BBC and their fit out consultants.

The project was won by innovative thinking and providing the client with options to meet actual capacity requirements versus maximum capacity available and the difference between static and mobile costs and capacities.

A project manager was allocated to the project and following meetings on site with clients design team and staff we were tasked with supplying assorted static shelving and a variety of bespoke items to offer a “one stop solution for storage”.

Bespoke, made to measure mesh cages to provide secure camera storage – measuring all areas of the building and working around existing pipe work and access issues to provide maximum storage in the area provided.

Longspan Racking with chipboard decking was provided in the property stores area to house the entire BBC collection of props.
