Drive-In Pallet Racking
These types of racking systems allow for high density storage and can significantly increase existing storage capacity when compared to conventional methods of pallet storage by negating the need for loading / picking aisles.
Operating on two different modes of storage, drive in / drive-thru racking works off the following principles LIFO – Last in First Out and FIFO – First in First Out
Drive Through/Drive-thru racking systems
FIFO storage – The First in First Out method of storage is employed with drive through racking systems. Double entry access allowing fork lift trucks access to either end of the run of racking and provides a versatile racking system. This allows the first pallet loaded to be accessed from the end of the run of racking bays – with subsequent loaded pallets being accessed from the front of the run if required.
Drive in racking systems
LIFO – Last in First Out racking systems use a single entry and exit point – access is from one end of the run of racking and pallets are accessed one by one from the front of the rack. Allowing for bulk storage the pallets are loaded and retrieved from one access point.
Popular for large volumes of same type goods these high density pallet storage systems can create up to seven times the storage of conventional pallet racking systems. Ideal where floor space is of a premium.
